You can print out a library card application from home in English or in Spanish.
Fill it out and bring it along with a government-issued photo ID to your local library branch. Parent/guardian signature is required for children under 14.
We charge $35 per year for out-of-state residents who would like to get a library card. This fee is waived for Cecil County Public School teachers who live outside Maryland. Teachers should bring their CCPS ID card when applying for a library card.

If you want to borrow a book that the Cecil County Public Library does not own, you may be able to borrow it by placing an interlibrary loan. Click on Marina and enter your library card number to place an interlibrary loan. Also, we are happy to help you place interlibrary loans. Call us at (410) 996-5600 x1420 or email us at ask@cecilcountylibrary.org Please note that interlibrary loans take an average of 7-10 business days to arrive. If your loan hasn't arrived after 10 days, please contact us.

From anywhere on the Cecil County Public Library web site, click “My Account” at the top of the page. Enter your 14-digit library card number (without spaces) and your PIN.
If you have a valid email address listed in your library account, you can reset your PIN using this link. For further assistance, call your local branch or use our contact us form.
From anywhere on the Cecil County Public Library web site, click “My Account,” which is located at the top of each page. Click the Checkouts tab if you are not already there, select the items you wish to renew and click “Renew.”

Click the Fines tab, select the fines you wish to pay, accept the terms and conditions, and click Pay Online. Enter your payment information and click the Submit button at the bottom of the screen.
Use the library catalog to find the item you would like to put on hold.
Click the Place Hold button next to that item.
Log into your account using your library card number and PIN if you have not already done so.
Choose your Pickup Library with the dropdown menu and click or tap Place Hold(s).
Click or tap OK.
You will be notified by telephone or email when your hold has reached the pickup library you chose.

Study rooms are available at the Elkton, North East, and Perryville Libraries. To reserve a study room, use this link to reserve yourself or if you need help, come in, call, or email.
Use of these rooms is limited to two hours, three times per week.
If you are over 30 minutes late for your study room reservation, the room may be given to someone else to use.
Please check in with a staff member when you get to the Library, before using the study room.
You can get a replacement card at any Cecil County Public Library branch. Government-issued photo identification is required.
Items may be returned to any CCPL branch.
At this time, we are not accepting book donations.
Meeting rooms are available at the Chesapeake, Elkton, North East, Perryville, and Rising Sun branch libraries. To make a meeting room reservation request, use this link or contact the branch. Be sure to read our meeting room policy before making a reservation request.
